What is a Borosilicate Glass?

A glass that has main constituents such as silica and boron dioxide which are essential for the formation of glass is known as Borosilicate Glass. It has low coefficients of thermal expansion which enables it to resists thermal shock. It also has greater chemical durability than soda lime glass. Borosilicate Glass is not suitable for long term high temperature as it can melt and shape easily.
