What is a RAM?

RAM is referred to as Random Access Memory which is the primary memory of the computer. It is also called as main memory and system memory. RAM allows the user to store and quickly access the information from random locations. RAM is a volatile memory and it works till the power is supplied. If the power is lost then the contents in the memory will also lost. The two different types of RAM are Dynamic random access memory and Static random access memory.
