What is Thiosulfate?

When sulfate ions is reacted in boiling point with element sulfur, oxyanion of sulfur thiosulfate is produced. It contains one oxygen which is replaced by sulfur and is a reducing agent. It stops bleaching as it dechlorinates rapidly. It is used in the production of leather and textiles. It occur in nature and also can be produced by biochemical process. Compounds include ammonium thiosulfate, barium thiosulfate, calcium thiosulfate, potassium thiosulfate and sodium thiosulfate.
